The Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Pre-Operative Assessment Nurse for Ophthalmology to join the Tysul Eye Unit at Glangwili General Hospital, with responsibilities extending across three counties. This role focuses on enhancing the pre-operative experience for patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery by optimizing service delivery, documentation, and protocol adjustments in collaboration with healthcare colleagues. The nurse will independently assess patients' pre-operative health, manage a caseload—including those with complex needs, and coordinate care to mitigate surgical risks while ensuring effective communication and management throughout the patient journey.

Additionally, the position involves conducting comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and screenings to identify health issues, while promoting the adoption of evidence-based practices. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, highlighting the Health Board's commitment to bilingualism and enhancing patient experiences. The role also offers support for staff to improve Welsh language skills if needed. Interviews for this position are scheduled for January 23, 2025.
