The Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist for its Specialist Weight Management Services (SWMS) in Shrewsbury. This role involves providing psychological support to adults with severe obesity (BMI of 40 or more or 35 with comorbidities) who have struggled to lose weight despite prior GP interventions. The psychologist will focus on delivering psychological and behavioral change support, helping patients prepare for and recover from bariatric surgery, and offering insights to the broader multidisciplinary team, including surgeon consultants and dieticians.

Key responsibilities include conducting specialist assessments using various psychometric tests and clinical interviews, implementing evidence-based psychological interventions, and formulating treatment plans tailored to individual needs. The role also requires ongoing evaluation of treatment outcomes and consideration of complex psychological factors influencing patients' conditions, ultimately aiming to reduce referrals for bariatric surgery through effective psychological support.
