The role of a HealthCare Assistant at Dr Khuroo's Practice in Birmingham involves supporting the practice nursing team in delivering various nursing services to the patient population. Key responsibilities include conducting new patient health checks, assisting with health promotion programs, performing routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, facilitating blood pressure monitoring, and providing wound care. The healthcare assistant will also support the management of chronic disease clinics, act as a chaperone, and, once trained, perform specific tasks like venepuncture, administering flu vaccinations, and conducting ECGs.

In addition to these core duties, the healthcare assistant may engage in practice audits, contribute to local initiatives aiming to improve patient care, and participate in shared learning within the practice. They will also ensure clinical areas are properly stocked, maintain hygiene standards, and manage clinical waste in accordance with infection prevention protocols. To support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each sessionp. Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidanceq. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policyDeliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
