The County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a self-motivated Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join their Cellular Pathology team in the Cytology department. The successful candidate will primarily focus on pre-screening diagnostic cytology specimens, preparing and processing samples for diagnosis, and addressing queries from Trust staff. The role requires previous experience in an NHS Cellular Pathology laboratory, specifically in cytology pre-screening, as well as strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Responsibilities also include managing laboratory stock, training new staff, and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.

Candidates must demonstrate competence in handling sensitive biological materials and be capable of performing error logging and troubleshooting. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate documentation and utilizing IT systems for tasks such as writing Standard Operating Procedures and conducting audits. The position offers the opportunity to rotate through other areas of the laboratory, enhancing the candidate's skills and experience in various facets of Cellular Pathology.
