The Medway NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Deputy Named Midwife for Safeguarding within the Women & Children's Service Care Group in Gillingham. This full-time position, Band 6, pays between £37,338 - £44,962 per annum, pro rata.

The role involves supporting the Named Midwife for Safeguarding in managing and coordinating safeguarding activities within maternity services. The post holder will provide expert advice, ensuring compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements and promoting best practices in the care of vulnerable women and families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a deputy to the Named Midwife, overseeing safeguarding strategies and policies.
  • Collaborating with maternity staff to enhance outcomes for children and young people.
  • Participating in education and training related to safeguarding for colleagues and students.
  • Maintaining up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and NMC registration.
  • Engaging in various safeguarding meetings, conducting research, and handling police notifications.
  • Assisting in the implementation of risk assessments for domestic abuse victims and chairing safeguarding meetings when necessary.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional development. The post holder will also support the Named Midwife during periods of absence.
