This unique role offers the opportunity to work in a centre of excellence, delivering care for a wide range of endocrine disorders, including those related to cancer and its treatment.About the RoleAs a Clinical Fellow in Endocrinology, you will:o Conduct outpatient clinics (including virtual consultations) and provide endocrine patient care.o Participate in specialist multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, including the Late Effects and Supportive Oncology MDTs.o Work closely with a highly skilled team comprising 4 consultants, 2 specialty trainees, 2 endocrine specialist nurses, and 2 IMT trainees.o Support and independently review patients with consultant oversight as needed.o Take part in teaching junior doctors and the wider multidisciplinary team.o Contribute to quality improvement projects, clinical audits, and research initiatives, with opportunities to develop skills such as GCP training and associate PI schemes.o Specialist Services and Research Opportunities

About us
ORGANISATIONAL ARRANGEMENTSThis post is for 40 hours per week to work within the Endocrinology team.
Role Purpose
EndocrinologyThe Department of Endocrinology provides a service for secondary referral from GPs and tertiary referral from consultants throughout the North-West Region as well as referrals from other departments within the Christie Hospital. The range of adult endocrine disorders presenting to the Department is comprehensive and includes endocrinopathies that present in patients living with and beyond cancer and its treatment, pituitary, adrenal, thyroid and reproductive disorders. Our centre hosts a regional radioactive iodine treatment clinic for benign thyroid disease and a regional thyroid eye disease clinic.

Regular undergraduate and postgraduate teaching take place throughout the year and includes dedicated teaching sessions, involving other endocrinologists in the North West Region, and combined endocrinology-radiology meetings.
The duties are entirely based at The Christie Hospital, Withington, and limited to the in-hours period (09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday). There will be no on-call commitment.
Trial activity is embedded within clinical service activity across all departments and services at The Christie and the post holder will be encouraged to develop the relevant skills (GCP training, associate PI schemes etc) to participate in this during the post. There will be opportunity to take part in research and quality improvement projects.
Supportive Oncology
There will be the opportunity to participate more broadly in Supportive Oncology activities across the Trust. This will include:
Attendance at the weekly Supportive Oncology MDT Attendance at the monthly Late Effects MDT Attendance at Supportive Care and Ambulatory Clinics and ward rounds (pain management, co-morbidities, rehabilitation) Attendance at Senior Adult Oncology clinics
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe appointee will be based at The Christie and will provide services at the Withington site. They will be involved in and independently review patients (consultant support will always be available when needed)
Endocrine Outpatient clinics (including virtual activity) Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings
The role will include supported involvement in:
Management of Endocrine patients: You will join a team of 4 consultants, 2 Specialty trainees, 2 endocrine specialist nurses and 2 IMT trainees and participate in teaching doctors-in-training, attending ward-consults, oversight of day-cases on the Endocrine Unit, participation in MDTs and specialist agreed clinics. Participation in all relevant aspects of clinical governance, including maintaining up to date protocols, guidelines and clinical audit, under the supervision of the consultants in the unit. Contribution to current research projects Revision and development of evidence-based protocols for patients and undertaking the administrative duties associated with the care of their patients. Actively contributing to the training of junior doctors and other multi-disciplinary team members in both in-patient and outpatient departments. Undertake clinical audit
Continuing Professional DevelopmentThe Trust supports the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as laid down by the GMC and surgical colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
Successful applicants will be supported to meet the training requirements equivalent to the relevant stage of training. The Educational Supervisor will monitor this through regular appraisal meetings and the educational agreement. Successful applicants will be provided with the same training opportunities of equivalent UK appointed trainees within the training programme.
On call CommitmentsThis role does not require participation in the on-call rota.
