Band 6 Emergency Planning Officer with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham, West Midlands
An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) for an Emergency Planning Officer. You will work across all of our acute hospital sites -- Good Hope, Heartlands, Queen Elizabeth and Solihull. You will be part of an Emergency Planning Team who are responsible for the co-ordination of Emergency Planning across the Trust ensuring that UHB is fully prepared to respond to and manage any emergency situation (regardless of cause) it may face. This includes the development and delivery of training to all levels of staff across the Trust with pre-designated roles within the Trusts emergency incident plans as well as some bespoke training packages as required. Business Continuity planning and exercising is a key aspect of this role and therefore an understanding of and/or an interest in business continuity would be beneficial. You will need to be enthusiastic, with a pragmatic approach and excellent inter-personal skills to be successful for this exciting and dynamic role and in return you will receive a comprehensive development programme to provide you with the skills and competency to succeed in this post. Closing date for applications -- Thursday 20th February 2025 Interviews will be held on -- Tuesday 11th March 2025 As an Emergency Planning Officer (EPO) the postholder will aid the delivery of the Trusts Emergency Planning Work Programme. This will provide experience and exposure to understanding how one of the largest NHS Acute Trusts functions and an opportunity to work with UHB colleagues at a Strategic, Tactical and Operational level. The postholder will be central to supporting the Trust in achieving and maintaining compliance against the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, and any associated Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR) guidance, including NHS England's (NHSE) Core Standards for EPRR. The postholder will support the Trust by reviewing and updating several existing plans, supporting the roll-out of training and exercising programmes across the Trust and get involved in the response to any potential incidents or emergencies. This means being able to multi-task, produce and maintain robust documentation and working across multiple sites and clinical delivery groups. The postholder will provide programme and administrative support to the team to ensure delivery of projects. You will also support the team in coordinating all communications for external partners including commissioners and regulators many of which are time sensitive requirements and need to be treated with utmost confidence and professionalism.
