Band 4: £26,530 to £29,114 a year per annum pro rata  PERMANENT  GOOD SALARY 

An opportunity has arisen to join our Endoscopy Unit as band 4 Assistant Practitioner. Currently the department holds JAG Accreditation and the candidate must be committed to uphold our high standards of care

To provide high quality care for patients within a multidisciplinary framework, responsible for contributing skills and tasks across multi-professional boundaries. Being accountable to heads of professions within the endoscopy setting, according to an agreed range of skills

About us

To accurately and responsibly carry out instructions of the multidisciplinary endoscopy team who are professionally accountable for the delivery of care.

To assist in the preparation of patients and equipment for endoscopic procedures and related investigations and treatments.

Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

To support and provide care for patients pre, peri and post procedure as appropriate.

Undertake non-invasive monitoring of observations ensuring documentation is accurate, legible and completed promptly, reporting perceived abnormalities.

To perform venepuncture / cannulation of patients.

Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal care in accordance with the trust values.

To make patients welcome to the clinical area and to participate in the admission process.

To assist with the discharge process for patients.

To participate in the on call service for gastrointestinal / endoscopy emergencies.

To chaperone/ escort post procedural sedated patients to other clinical departments.

To report all care that has been given to patients and document accurately maintaining confidentiality.

To report any patient that gives cause for concern or any observed changes in a patients physical condition.

Respond appropriately in the event of an emergency; accurately and promptly carry out instructions.

Understand and attend to the psychological needs of the patient, partners, carers and significant others.

To be aware and adhere to all Trust policies/ procedures/ guidelines when undertaking any activities.

Undertake agreed enhanced tasks as specified in Endoscopy to which they have been deemed competent.

All duties to be carried out under the supervision of a qualified nurse or Endoscopist.
