The Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist will work as a member of the wider locality based multidisciplinary Manchester Macmillan Supportive and Palliative Care Service.

The post holder will support Neighborhood teams to deliver locally driven high quality care, responsive to patient and carers needs. This includes education of other health care professionals, training, support and advice for the multidisciplinary team.

The focus of the multidisciplinary approach will be to support patients and carers to live well, prevent inappropriate hospital admission and meet their preferred priorities for care.


Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care Band7

An exciting opportunity has now arisen within the City Wide Manchester Macmillan Palliative Support Service for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care.

The post holder will work as part of the Macmillan Specialist multi-disciplinary team comprising of Medics, Dietitian, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Nurses, Speech and Language Therapist, Assistant Practitioners, Admin support and Volunteer Coordinators. The team aims to provide effective support palliative care and/or rehabilitation to patients with a life limiting condition requiring palliative intervention.

The post holder will provide supportive palliative care to enhance the quality of life for patients / carers with any life limiting illness requiring palliative care, including complex physical, psychological and emotional needs. The post holder will be expected to have extensive palliative medication knowledge to support the complex symptom management needs of the patient.

Recent investment by Macmillan has enabled the Manchester Macmillan Supportive and Palliative Care Service to develop substantially for the city of Manchester; this is an exciting time to join our innovative and expanding team.
