We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Oakwood, a category C prison located in Featherstone, Staffordshire. We are the largest prison in the UK, with outstanding facilities and training opportunities.

Here at HMP Oakwood, we are delighted to offer NVQ Level 2 holders a fully paid distance learning course to achieve an NVQ Level 3! Once you have started with us, we will pay for you to complete your qualification, and offer a comprehensive onsite training package in planned care and emergency care.   You could learn lots of new skills here with us, including ECG, medication, respiratory, tissue viability, wound care and long term conditions.  
Hours:

 
This is a full time role, and you will work shifts on an 8 week rota basis. Shifts are between 07:00 - 20:00, including weekends.   
Salary:
This position is full time , youll receive an annual salary of up to £24,265 per annum, depending on your NVQ Level.

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Support the full patient journey, from entry to discharge
  • Work within medication, primary care, emergency situations, social care - this role is very varied! 
    No two days are the same!
  • Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
  • Work across all 9 residential buildings within the prison
  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback 
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
