The Luton And Dunstable Ophthalmology department is seeking a motivated Health Care Assistant (HCA) with a keen interest in ophthalmology to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team focused on delivering excellent patient care. The successful candidate will assist Registered Nurses in providing safe and effective ophthalmic care, undertake competency training in the use of specialized ophthalmic clinical devices, and perform a variety of patient care activities, including conducting diagnostic procedures such as visual acuity testing and instilling prescribed eye drops.

In addition to patient care responsibilities, the HCA will organize clinic lists, complete pre-consultation tests, and handle administrative, clerical, and housekeeping tasks as directed. Effective communication across a diverse patient population is essential, alongside the ability to maintain core ophthalmic competencies and adapt to new procedures as they evolve.

More about the NHS

This revolutionary system aimed to ensure that access to medical services would not depend on an individual’s financial situation, a concept that has since become fundamental to British societal values.Learn more...
