The Hepatology Surveillance Nurse Specialist at Wye Valley NHS Trust in Hereford is a Band 6 position focused on developing and implementing a nurse-led liver surveillance pathway for patients with stable, compensated liver cirrhosis at risk for Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This role involves conducting patient assessments, managing investigations and test results, offering lifestyle advice, and ensuring timely access to surveillance to enhance patient outcomes and enable early detection of HCC.

Key responsibilities include running HCC surveillance clinics, providing comprehensive support to patients, communicating results, and coordinating with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate timely patient transfers if cancer is detected. The nurse specialist will utilize their expertise and communication skills to advocate for patients, ensuring they make informed decisions and receive psychological support throughout their care journey.
