The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust seeks to recruit two enthusiastic consultants in General Surgery with a focus on Upper GI Surgery to join their general surgery department. The successful candidates will be responsible for both elective and emergency general surgical services, including managing complex Upper GI cases and providing oversight to medical students and trainees. Advanced laparoscopic skills and prior Upper GI surgical training are essential qualifications. The role includes leading initiatives to improve patient care and ensuring adherence to best practices while participating in audit and clinical governance activities.

In addition to direct patient care, the consultants will engage in teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, contribute to service development, and collaborate with colleagues in both the surgical and emergency departments to enhance operational efficiency. The position entails a commitment to continuous professional development and participation in departmental activities. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate leadership capabilities while promoting a collaborative team environment within the multidisciplinary team.
