If so, then this role could be for you. North Tees and Hartlepool Foundation trust are seeking a band 5 nurse elderly care nurse to deliver all round care to our elderly population.
The ideal candidates will have a desire for care of the elderly and be willing to work within a multidisciplinary team in maintaining a high standard of care.
North Tees and Hartlepool Foundation trust have opportunities to work on one of two elderly care wards. Both wards have their patients at the heart of everything they do. Both elderly care wards have the opportunity to develop your skills in dementia care, assessment skills, coordinating and facilitating discharges, end of life care and general nursing care.
Whilst working on one of the elderly care wards you will have the opportunity to work alongside the frailty team, the enhanced care team, the elderly care medical team, our specialist elderly care occupational therapists and physiotherapists as well as our elderly care activities coordinator.
You will become part of an upbeat dynamic team bringing energy and a strong focus on multidisciplinary team work in supporting elderly care patients.
You will work on a ward which is managed by a Ward Matron and a Deputy Ward Matron alongside a wider range of experienced nurses. You will be allocated a mentor/Buddy who you will shadow within your first stages of undertaking the role, you will receive an annual individual performance review to help facilitate your development. We support staff with post registration courses relevant to their field of practice at our local teaching university.

The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the chosenspeciality and will assist in the management and organisation of nursing work in the ward/department within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.The post holder will supervise the working of health care assistants and support workers and support the training and assessment of student nurses, whilst demonstrating the trust Values and Behaviours for nursing and midwifery staff at all times.
The post holder has a duty of care to patients and is expected to comply fully with best practice standards and comply with trust policies for personal and patient safety and the prevention of healthcare associated infections.
