Parklands Surgery in Rushden is looking for a dedicated salaried GP to join their team for 4-6 sessions per week, with an opportunity for equity sharing partnership after one year. This forward-thinking practice, comprising 7 GPs and serving 13,500 patients, emphasises patient-centered care in a purpose-built facility located in a semi-rural area. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing general medical services, managing a diverse caseload, and ensuring high standards of care for all patients. Duties include conducting surgery and telephone consultations, home visits, handling prescriptions and test results, and collaborating with healthcare teams using electronic management systems. GPs will also engage in health education, develop care plans, and maintain meticulous documentation, while participating in audits and maintaining adherence to the practice’s prescribing protocols. On-call sessions and patient visits may also be part of the role.

About us
The post-holder will be part of a primary care health team providing general medical services and will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- The post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, test results and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Work with the electronic document management system EMIS Web, ICE, Choose and Book, Dictation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- Providing counselling and health education if the need arises
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes & quality purposes.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary and generically whenever this is clinically appropriate in liaison with the partners.
- To use the applicable Choose and Book systems for patient referrals etc.
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care under a GMS contract. This will include some on call sessions and visits.
