This position is available due to the retirement of a valued colleague and is particularly suited for individuals who recently obtained their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Breast Surgery and are on the specialist register.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive training in Oncoplastic breast surgery,demonstrate excellent communication skills, and exhibit a strong commitment to teamworkand collaborative practice. The post holder will also contribute to the ongoing advancement of our breast unit, which is housed in the modern Treatment Centre area of the hospital. The facility offers a spacious, modern environment with excellent ergonomics, ensuring optimal experience for both patients and staff.

The primary clinical responsibilities of the post holder are: -
- To ensure the provision and delivery of a first-class clinical service.
- To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
- To provide specialist breast surgical services for in-patients, day cases and out-patients, with continuing responsibility for the patients and their care and for the proper functioning of the department.
- To support and continue to develop the Oncoplastic/reconstructive aspects of the breast service.
- To contribute to the Breast MDT.
- To activate particulate and undertake audit.
- To actively remain clinically competent.
- To teach staff/medical students.
- To work to all Trust Policies and procedures.
- To work flexibly.
About us
The successful candidate will join our innovative breast unit to provide comprehensive breast surgical services in collaboration with Northampton General Hospital. This position, open due to retirement of a valued colleague, focuses on the timely diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancer, with particular emphasis on oculoplastic procedures.
In 2023, our unit diagnosed 298 patients and provided treatment to 254 patients. The unit offers state-of-the-art facilities having recently benefited a newly built waiting lounge and garden area as well as recent investment in refurbishing breast screening facilities within the unit.
The post will suit a candidate who has recently gained their CCT in Breast surgery (and who is on the specialist register).
