The role of Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) in Blood Transfusion at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust involves supporting Biomedical Scientists in the Blood Bank Department. Key responsibilities include examining clinical samples, booking in blood samples, testing using various lab equipment, and monitoring fridge temperatures. ATOs will also drive an on-site vehicle to other hospital locations in Devon and Cornwall. Candidates should be team-oriented, able to work under pressure, possess strong communication skills, and have attention to detail. The position requires a full clean driving license and entails regular night and weekend shifts. Preference will be given to internal Trust staff and those with relevant experience. Full training and PPE will be provided to ensure staff safety in the laboratory environment.
