Wansford and KingsCliffe Practice is seeking a HealthCare Assistant to join their team for a part-time position of two days a week, in response to an increase of over 2500 patients. The role involves a variety of clinical tasks, including performing phlebotomy, conducting ECGs, and supporting the practice nurse in health promotion and chronic disease management. The ideal candidate should be willing to learn and perform wound management and vaccinations under Patient Specific Directions (PSD).

Key responsibilities include carrying out health checks, monitoring and recording baseline observations (such as blood pressure and BMI), administering flu vaccinations once trained, and assisting during minor procedures. Other duties involve ensuring clinical rooms are well-stocked and prepared, managing specimens, and delivering health promotion initiatives. The position requires a proactive approach to patient care within a supportive and friendly environment.

We have a vacancy for a HealthCare Assistant to join our friendly team for 2 days a week.

We serve a varied population and as our list size has increased by over 2500 in the last two years, we need to expand our current nursing team.

The ideal candidate must be able to perform phlebotomy and carry out ECG's as a minimum.

Willingness to train to carry out wound management and vaccinations under PSD's is essential

About us
a. Undertake health checks
b. Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
c. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
d. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
e. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
f. Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
g. Carry out BMI checks as directed
h. Act as a chaperone as required
i. Undertake venepuncture
j. When trained, administer flu vaccinations
k. Carry out ECGs as requested
l. Undertake 24hour ECGs
m. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
n. Provide support during minor operations, coil clinics and Baby Imms clinics as required
o. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
p. Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
q. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
