Catering Assistant

Based at: Tamarind Centre

Hours: 37.5 hours

Salary: £24321.87

Disclosure

All roles will be subject to a successful disclosure at an enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), satisfactory reference check, qualifications' check, occupational health check and mandatory training prior to commencement of employment.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering a high standard of catering services to Service Users, Staff and Visitors.

Responsible for performing catering duties in kitchens, dining rooms and associated areas, including food service, cleaning of premises and equipment, preparation of food and beverages, cash handling and operating cash registers.

To maintain a clean, safe working environment adhering to health and safety working practices and food hygiene standards.

About us

GENERAL.

  • Responsible for the production, delivery and safe food service to Staff and Patients.
  • Responsible for the receipt of qualitative and quantitative and safe storage of goods in accordance with the Departmental HACCP Procedure.
  • To be responsible for utilising safely mechanical and electrical equipment, including operating Wash-Up (mechanical/hand machine), following appropriate training as required and in accordance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulation.

FINANCE.

  • Responsible for handling cash and operating cash register including balance a nd banking all monies.

INDIVIDUAL.

  • Responsible for engaging in the Trust appraisal process, that identifies your own personal development and training needs.
  • Responsible for ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the data protection act trust policy and good practice.
  • Responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards colleagues and other agents visiting or working on bsmhft premises.
  • To assist in the introduction of new staff under the guidance and advice of the Catering Shiftleader/Supervisor.
  • Responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all relevant departmental/trust and statutory policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that they contribute and work towards the service/organisational aims and objectives.
  • To undertake any adhoc duties as required by the Catering Supervisor commensurate with the grade of the post.
  • It is everyones responsibility to be aware of infection control procedures and to carry out relevant training.
  • Every member of staff has a responsibility to be aware of and follow at all times, the relevant national and local policy in relation to the safeguarding of children, the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and the control of infection.
