The role of Macmillan Information and Support Centre Assistant at Furness General Hospital involves providing compassionate support and high-quality patient-focused care to cancer patients, their families, and carers. The successful candidate will be responsible for greeting and assisting individuals who seek help, signposting them to relevant services, and fostering relationships with both clinical and non-clinical teams. Key tasks include assessing the needs of service users, helping them navigate clinical information, resolving conflicts regarding information received, and managing a varied workload while maintaining sensitivity to emotional situations.

In addition, the Centre Assistant will be involved in providing information about cancer prevention, treatment options, and living with cancer, ensuring that communication is clear and adapted to individual needs. The position requires excellent communication and organisational skills, along with a flexible approach to work in a dynamic environment. The role also includes supporting the centre manager in daily operations and enhancing one's own skills through direct support and training.
