An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join the Inpatient Therapy Team in Bolton. The successful applicant will be based mainly on the Medical , Complex Care and 'No Criteria to reside' Wards at the Royal Bolton Hospital
The Inpatient Therapy team work as part of an integrated MDT with the nursing and wider MDT team including those from the Integrated Discharge Team.
As a member of the wider MDT you will work alongside and support specialist therapy staff in providing specialist treatment, intervention and advice - guided by a qualified therapist. The post offers the opportunity to develop skills within Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy within a supportive environment alongside other existing therapy assistants.
Assisting Therapy Staff on the wards in the day to day assessment, treatment and management of patients
To assist therapist(s) in their job by:
Providing routine therapy under the direction of a named therapist to ensure the delivery of high quality services
Preparing therapeutic materials as required
Undertaking administrative tasks related to the workload

Specifically, you will be required:
To carry out specific care and treatment under the guidance and delegation of the qualified staff in accordance with the therapy plan on the hospital wards.
To be able to recognise improvements or adverse developments in the clients condition, report to supervisor and document it.
To implement intervention programmes on an individual basis, under the supervision of a registered therapist.
To organise and carry out follow up visits (as needed) in the clients home, either in relation to assessment and provision of equipment or to carry out other therapeutic activity under the guidance of the registered therapy staff.
To prepare the client and environment for therapeutic intervention when required
To maintain hygiene and cleanliness of all relevant clinical areas
To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools, to effectively communicate with and gather information from clients/carers and feedback accurately to therapy colleagues, in order to progress any treatment programmes. This will include clients who may have difficulties understanding or communicating, e.g. speech difficulties.
To identify when intervention with a client is appropriate and to be able to modify intervention within agreed level of competence.
To physically move and handle clients/equipment within health & safety guidelines in a variety of settings maximising the clients comfort and minimise adverse effects of pressure
To be aware of the local and out of area procedures for the provision of resources as required and complete referrals in liaison with relevant therapist.
To liaise directly with voluntary and other support agencies in order to gain information on available community services appropriate to clients
To demonstrate understanding of the roles of other MDT members and work in partnership with them in order to contribute to MDT assessment of clients.
To maintain effective communication with carers in line with client confidentiality
To possess basic IT and keyboard skills, enabling the use of relevant organisational IT systems necessary to fulfil the role, e.g. booking appointments or accessing email etc.
