The Perinatal Family Liaison Officer (FLO) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust will provide essential support to families and caregivers impacted by Patient Safety Incidents or complaints concerning maternity services. Acting as a single point of contact, the FLO will foster trusting relationships with families, ensuring their voices are prioritized throughout the investigative process led by the Independent Maternity Review team. This role emphasises compassion and professionalism, particularly towards bereaved individuals, while also ensuring effective communication and support tailored to the unique needs of each family.

Key responsibilities include establishing timely contact with affected families, guiding them through the investigation and complaint processes, and offering accurate information about Trust procedures. The FLO will address language barriers by utilizing interpreting services and ensure equal access to support for all service users. Maintaining professional boundaries and clarity in communication will be crucial in managing expectations and delivering effective support throughout the process.
