NEONATAL NHS THERAPEUTIC DRUG MONITORING WEEKEND
The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) for its Department of Clinical Biochemistry. The role requires State Registration with the Health Professions Council and expertise in Clinical Chemistry. As part of one of the largest Clinical Biochemistry Departments in the UK, the successful candidate will perform complex automated and manual laboratory procedures, liaising closely with healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic services. Duties include verifying results, maintaining equipment, and contributing to laboratory operations across multiple sites, including participation in out-of-hours services. Flexibility in working hours is essential, with potential weekend and night shifts.

In addition to scientific and diagnostic responsibilities, the Specialist BMS will supervise and train junior staff, ensure compliance with quality standards, and maintain effective communication within the clinical team and with patients. The role emphasises continuous professional development and proactive engagement in departmental policies and procedures. Candidates should expect to contribute to a dynamic laboratory environment focused on providing high-quality patient care through efficient service delivery and innovative testing methods.
