CANNULATION INTRAVENOUS MATERNITY MULTI-DISCIPLINARY NHS ROLE MODEL VENEPUNCTURE
The Band 5 NAC Clinic Nurse role at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is a fixed-term position for 15 months, covering maternity leave in the National Amyloidosis Centre. The primary responsibilities include placing indwelling peripheral venous lines for intravenous administration and blood sampling, necessitating advanced venepuncture and cannulation skills. The nurse will be involved in all aspects of patient care—from assessment to evaluation—working under the supervision of senior staff, while liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and service users.

Additionally, the post holder will manage outpatient clinic operations, oversee a team of Nursing Assistants, and ensure they meet mandatory training and appraisal requirements. The role emphasises the importance of maintaining high-quality patient care through effective communication, patient feedback incorporation, and acting as a role model for excellence in nursing practice.
