Are you looking for an experience in a healthcare environment?If you have computer skills with a knowledge of hospital IT systems, then our ward clerk opportunity may be what you are looking for. We are looking for someone to join our team as a ward clerk administrator. Kerr ward is a 22 bedded, medium dependency ward. It comprises of 4 bays with 4 beds in each bays, and 6 side rooms. The majority of patients have kidney related problems which may require investigations, renal replacement therapy or other medical or surgical interventions. We are looking for a team player who is friendly, organised and pays attention to detail. You will have excellent spoken and written communication skills and be computer literate. Please note that the role involves working Mondays to Fridays from 8 am to 4 pm. You will need to act as the initial point of contact for patients, visitors and callers to the ward ensuring their needs are met promptly and politely. The post holder will be responsible for providing effective and efficient clerical and reception support to Kerr ward, ensuring that administration processes meet the needs of all service users. You will also undertake clerical tasks that are in line with contributing to trust quality improvement projects and upholding the trust values - COLLABORATIVE, ASPIRATIONAL, KIND AND EXCELLENCE. Promote a customer focused approach to receive patients and visitors to the ward, providing a courteous, responsive and effective first point of contact (in person and by telephone) for patients, carers and healthcare professionals, both internal and external to the Trust. Use judgement in responding to queries or taking messages. Ensure that all enquires are dealt with politely, courteously, promptly and professionally. Prioritise, plan and organise daily workload, ensuring that daily tasks and ongoing workloads are prioritised and completed within agreed and acceptable timescales, ensuring the ward manager is informed as relevant of any changes in working pattern. To photocopy documentation and ensure that stationery is well stocked at all times. To train and develop new ward clerks and support staff who cover for annual leave, sharing good practice where possible. To operate appropriate IT link systems to other health agencies and IT packages relevant to the clinical area.
