Band 8b: £62,215 to £72,293 a year  PERMANENT 
Lead advanced nursing and other non-medical practice across the Thoracic and Ambulatory Division including development of advanced practice roles.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward-thinking, enthusiastic and dynamic senior nurse to join our well-established Thoracic Oncology team at Royal Papworth Hospital, a tertiary referral centre for Lung cancer.

The post holder will have significant clinical experience and a proven record of leadership, change management and innovation. The role will encompass expert clinical nursing care along with key responsibilities for service developments, education and training, professional leadership and consultancy.

As a senior clinician you will exercise autonomy and provide appropriate clinical assessment, formulation and interventions. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, working collaboratively with service users, families, operational teams and outside agencies to achieve best possible outcomes.

The post holder will be responsible for and will have the authority and freedom to develop and lead advanced practice and research within the department. They will practice clinically up to 50% of their time.

The post holder will work as a co-lead for the Oncology Service with the Clinical Director and Operational Lead, supporting the development of clinical strategy for Oncology Care to enable the team to deliver timely, clinically effective patient care that meets national standards.

  • To support the Head of Nursing in the clinical nursing leadership of the Division
  • Lead advanced nursing and other non-medical practice across the Thoracic and Ambulatory Division including development of advanced practice roles
  • Work with all stakeholders to develop clinical pathways internally and externally for Thoracic Oncology
  • Work as part of the senior clinical team to deliver key clinical standards
  • Support the Head of Nursing to develop strong leadership and managerial process to deliver high quality care
  • Work with the Matrons, Lead Nurses, Head of Nursing and Clinical Educators, supporting on educational development for nursing and engagement of the multi-professional workforce across the Division
  • Provide leadership advice and support on clinical governance issues, including clinical and non-clinical risk assessment and management
