Band 3: £24,433 to £26,060 a year per annum  PERMANENT  GOOD SALARY

Medical Laboratory Assistant (Band 3)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pathology Department to support a full time permanent MLA position based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant. The successful candidate will be trained to work within our combined reception area, providing support to the Blood Sciences laboratory.

The applicant should have a good standard of general education and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants should be able to demonstrate an attention to detail and an ability to learn new tasks.

The post-holder will be required to handle biological specimens, e.g. blood, faeces, urine, in accordance with Directorate Health & Safety Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.

The main duties include preparation, labelling and data entry of clinical specimens for biological testing which have to be undertaken with care. It will be advantageous to have worked in a laboratory environment previously and some IT experience would be of benefit.

The department is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 and is an accredited IBMS training laboratory.


The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
