The role of the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Midwife at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust involves supporting the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinator to provide high-quality screening services for women and their families. Key responsibilities include managing screen positive results, counseling families on antenatal screen outcomes, collecting and analyzing screening data, and presenting reports at various meetings. The midwife will also participate in audits, staff education, guideline development, and support the fetal medicine service, all while adhering to national standards and improving screening processes.

In this position, the midwife is expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines, serve as a clinical role model, and contribute to the development of screening policies and research. Effective communication with patients and collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team are essential. The midwife will also identify personal development needs and ensure compliance with registration and professional standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
