An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated paediatric research nurse to join our dynamic research nursing team within the Bone Marrow Transplant speciality on a full-time permanent contract. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who is willing to learn and gain expertise in clinical research and in this exciting area of medicine.
The Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit has the largest paediatric Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) programme in Europe, providing a comprehensive SCT service including autologous and allogeneic procedures for patients with Haematology, Oncology, Immunology, Metabolic disease, Rheumatology and Gastroenterology diseases. The unit carries out approximately 100 transplant episodes per year, pioneered reduced intensity conditioning for children with genetic disorders and is at the forefront in developing national and international transplant protocols as well as novel indications for transplant. Additionally, the unit has a world-class programme of translational research focused on 3 main areas: reducing the intensity of the conditioning drugs used before BMT, cell therapy to improve immunity after BMT, and gene therapy for leukaemia.
As one of the Band 6 research nurses based in the trust, you will work alongside the band 7 research nurse leading and coordinating the delivery of the BMT speciality research portfolios. Working clinically with the team you will promote high standards of both patient care and research practice.
