The Family Safeguarding Mental Health Practitioner role at the Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Southampton City Council involves supporting families facing challenges related to domestic abuse, substance misuse, and mental health issues. This position is intended for experienced mental health nurses, social workers, or occupational therapists who are passionate about safeguarding and working within a multi-disciplinary team. The practitioner will manage a caseload, delivering evidence-based individual and group interventions, and collaborating with agencies to create comprehensive care and treatment plans underpinned by a strong knowledge of mental health law, safeguarding practices, and the Care Act.

The role also emphasises professional development, offering access to various training opportunities, coaching, and resources for personal growth. Successful applicants will engage in monthly practice forums, triannual workshops, and specialized training programs, allowing them to refine their skills in systemic practices, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
