An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, proactive Nurse Specialist to make a significant difference to the health outcomes of patients diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in the West Midlands. This is a full time, band 7 (consideration would be given for a band 6 developmental post) based within theDepartment of Neurology at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT), providing services to people living in the county and its surrounding area.The successful applicant will work as part of the expanding neurological team here at RWT. The post holder will be provided with expert clinical leadership and support from our established team and 2 Consultant Neurologists with specialist interest in Movement Disorders.

The post holder will play a key role in the delivery of neurological services throughout the Trust. You will be expected to exercise a high degree of professional autonomy and to make critical judgementsusing specialist knowledge; you will provide the highest standard of holistic patient care for patients with epilepsy.

You will be responsible for the organisation and management of your own workloadand commitments to facilitate clinics in various locations throughout Wolverhampton, Telford and Shropshire, adapting and prioritising as necessary. Current clinic sites are in Cannock, Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury and Telford.

Applicants should be highly motivated, dynamic and will play a pivotal role in neurology nursing service development, in line with national guidance. The successful candidate will work withthe wider multi-disciplinary team for the benefit of people with Parkinson's Disease.

The post will require you to run and maintain nurse-led clinics independently. You will have responsibility for assessing patients and subsequently devising, implementing and assessing anindividual's comprehensive Parkinson's Disease care plan.

Work as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team and at times liaising and acting as a specialist resource across multi-agency specialties.

You will be required to work autonomously in clinic settings across the region. Be required to take telephone help line messages and triage patient queries offering support and advice respective to seizure management or on-going care.

To deliver autonomous advanced level practice encompasses aspects of education, research and management but is firmly grounded in direct compassionate care provision or clinical work with patients, families, caseloads and populations.Practitioners working at an advanced level will promote public health and well-being using making every contact count as an approach to change behaviour through interactions with individuals, carers and families to support them in making positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing.The role will be 80% clinical and 20% non-clinical.To be accountable for :Ensuring safe and effective clinical practiceEnhancing the patients experienceEnsuring effective contribution to the delivery of the organisations objectivesEfficient and effective use of resourcesTeam leaderManaging and developing the performance of the team [service specific]
