The Associate Director for Advanced Practice at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust will serve as the Trust's lead in advanced clinical practice, focusing on the development, implementation, and leadership of advanced practice strategies. This role involves collaboration with the Executive Chief Medical Officer and Executive Chief Nurse to establish multi-professional strategies while providing expert education, consultancy, and clinical expertise. The Associate Director will work closely with divisions to tailor the Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) workforce to meet service needs, influence regional and national priorities, and ensure alignment with key policies and regulatory guidance.
In this senior leadership position, the Associate Director will guide the development of advanced practice education and roles, oversee clinical governance and competency assessment, and enhance the recruitment, education, and retention of the ACP workforce across all Trust sites. They will build credible relationships within the Trust's senior leadership team, support divisional teams in workforce transformation, and contribute to the strategic development of advanced practice locally and nationally. To provide UHDB with a Trust lead for Advanced level clinical practice who will be responsible for the trust wide development and leadership of Advanced Clinical Practice.
They will support the Executive Chief Medical Officer and Executive Chief Nurse Officer developing, leading and implementing the multi professional advanced practice strategy and provide highly specialised and expert advice education, consultancy and clinical expertise.
- Works as a senior leader within UHDB responsible for leading the development and implementation of advanced practice education and roles, ensuring alignment with key national policies and policy frameworks and guidance from regulatory bodies
- Works closely with the Divisions to ensure an ACP workforce that meets specific service needs
- Works as a senior clinical leader within the corporate management team
- Influences regional and national priorities related to advanced clinical practice
- Leads the initiation, development and effective implementation of guidance, clinical governance, competency assessment and continuing education for both trainee and trained ACPs
- Informs the strategic development and evaluation of advanced practice across local Sustainability transformation partnerships (STP) / integrated care systems (ICS) and at regional and national level
- Establishes credible working relationships at all levels of the Trust and works alongside the Trust senior leadership team to guide and support divisional leadership teams in workforce transformation
- Leads the development and integration of an ACP workforce that meets the trust vison and the objectives of the NHS People Plan
- Ensures progressive improvement in the recruitment, education and retention of the ACP workforce across all UHDB sites.
