Responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in developing service plans that are aligned to the HSC Care Values and the Partnership of Purpose and the relevant professional standards.

The States of Guernsey are looking for an Associate Director for Clinical Support Services and Lead AHP to join the team at Health and Social Care.

This is a key leadership role within HSC, operating as part of the senior leadership team and enabling the Director of Care Delivery Operations to fulfil their role in leading high quality high-quality services that deliver the best outcomes for individuals across the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The Associate Director provides leadership, operational management, and strategic direction of the service area in line with HSC Care Values and the Partnership of Purpose. They will lead services that deliver high quality outcomes against best practice and professional standards and demonstrate value for money. They will promote a culture of openness and transparency whilst enabling their teams to engage in person centred service developments through the annual service planning cycle. They will be an experienced Allied Health Professional (AHP) with the ability to motivate and inspire staff to deliver the highest possible clinical and professional standards.

The postholder will be a member of the Professional Alliance of Health and Social Care Practitioners. The Alliance team provides leadership in respect of the key professional areas for practitioners within service level teams and will focus on the following key areas:-

  • Professional Standards
  • Practice Standards
  • Learning and Development
  • Research and Development

Workforce planning Areas of responsibility, not limited to:--

  • Profession Lead for Allied Health Professionals
  • Radiology Department
  • Pathology Department
  • Speech and Language
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy Department (APA)
  • Dietetics
  • Cardio Respiratory Department
  • Clinical Advisory lead for the Medical Devices Board

Responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in developing service plans that are aligned to the HSC Care Values and the Partnership of Purpose and the relevant professional standards. This will include leading opportunities for transformation, innovation and modernisation whilst ensuring the delivery of all operational performance objectives and outcomes specific to the service area.

Responsible for monitoring and continually improving the quality of services so that they are effective, efficient and meet best practice and professional standards, with particular reference to taking a system view of service user flow.

Responsible for establishing excellent relationships with health and care staff, leaders and external stakeholders to successfully develop user centred pathways of care.

Responsible for providing leadership and direction in developing workforce capability so that all colleagues have the right knowledge and skills in an open culture which fosters high morale and a commitment which is aligned to the Professional Alliance.

Have an awareness of local policy and guidance in relation to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and adults. As a leader will ensure that the services comply with the policy and guidance.

Attend the Quality Governance Committee and contribute significantly to the safety, quality and risk management practices of HSC.
