The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will assess, diagnose, treat and make the decision to admit or discharge adult patients safely ensuring appropriate advice, health education and referral to appropriate services or other members of the MDT under the supervision of the Acute Surgical team
Will work independently, with a degree of autonomy, and take part in clinical supervision from a named Consultant mentor.
Will be able to manage their own caseload in response to unpredictable patterns of work under supervision
An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to become part of the General Surgery Advanced Clinical Practitioner team which cares for patients who are acutely unwell, often presenting with undiagnosed, undifferentiated conditions or ongoing worsening symptoms of chronic disease. We are based within the Same Day Emergency Care unit which is dedicated to delivering same day care, investigations and initiation of treatment without admission to hospital.
The post holder will form part of the emergency surgical on call team in providing clinical assessment and support to the care and treatment of a diverse caseload of patients requiring surgical and urology input. Demonstrating highly developed specialist knowledge and skills, the post holder will be integral in the early assessment and management of general surgical and urology patients.
The Advanced Practitioner will work autonomously; demonstrate a highly specialist knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of patients within General Surgery and Urology. They will order investigations, make appropriate/ timely referrals and maintain relevant clinical records. Non-medical prescribing is fundamental in supporting this role. The post holder will provide clinical expertise for developing and enhancing the service.
The team is supportive to newly qualified or less experienced ANP/ACP and offer on the job training and a supervisory period to enhance skills and knowledge.
