The Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Research Fellow in Anaesthesia for a one-year position starting in August 2025 at St Mary's Hospital. This role is targeted at senior anaesthetic residents interested in research and aims to equip them with essential skills in basic science research, along with support for pursuing doctoral studies in Academic Anaesthesia.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in approximately four days a week of protected research time, alongside clinical training in anaesthesia.
  • Collaborating within the MSk Lab at Imperial College London on biomedical and physiology research relevant to anaesthesia.
  • Gaining experience in a high-profile research environment while receiving mentorship from academics.
  • Contributing to the anaesthesia department's research activity and teaching initiatives.

Candidates must have a GMC registration and an appropriate anaesthetic qualification, being ideally suited for senior trainees or peri-CCT grade. They will manage both elective and emergency anaesthesia cases, participate in the on-call rota (1:8), and engage in teaching and quality improvement activities.

The fellowship aims to foster independent research capabilities and may facilitate opportunities for further academic qualifications, with expected outcomes including publication in peer-reviewed journals or presentations at conferences.
