The Senior Psychiatric Liaison Practitioner role at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust in Orpington requires an experienced professional responsible for conducting specialist assessments and crisis risk management plans in the Emergency Department (ED). The candidate must have experience with both older adults and working-age adults, and be skilled in delivering proactive, compassionate care, while effectively collaborating with various healthcare teams and agencies. Key responsibilities include rapid patient assessment, treatment decision-making, clinical leadership, supporting junior staff, and maintaining strong relationships with acute trust staff to ensure comprehensive mental health services.

In this position, the practitioner will act autonomously in assessing patient needs, develop individualized treatment plans in line with NICE guidelines, and provide consultation to referring clinicians. Responsibilities also include teaching, leading clinical projects, participating in quality assurance initiatives, and keeping accurate data to inform performance indicators. The post holder will also play a vital role in promoting patient autonomy and safeguarding vulnerable populations within the hospital setting, ensuring a recovery-oriented approach is maintained throughout their practice.
