Annual health checks for patients identified as having learning disabilities.

Radford Medical Practice is a well-established, 2 sited, inner city Practice. We currently have around 22000 patients. We have a large student population based at the Nottingham Trent University and a smaller diverse population at our Radford site.

We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly, supportive team. Our ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, be enthusiastic , well organised , flexible, forward thinking and work well within a team.

This part-time post will be based across 2 sites. Up to 22.5 hours per week over 3 days.

The successful candidate will be competent in Long Term Conditions, vaccinations and immunisations. Experience in contraception, sexual health, cervical cytology, childhood immunisations and travel vaccinations would be desirable but training can be provided. The Practice will support any applicants new to Practice Nursing in their development and application to the PN PGCert course.

Protected CPD learning time and structured clinical supervision will be offered.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Performance and assistance in routine tasks related to patient care directed by senior nursing staff and GPs. The may include:

  • Cervical cytology
  • Contraceptive and sexual health services
  • Wound care assessment , including removal of sutures
  • Minor illness and injury
  • Management of patients with long term conditions
  • Annual health checks for patients identified as having learning disabilities
  • New patient health checks and cardiovascular screening
  • Travel health assessments
  • Triaging patients via the online consultation system
  • Venepuncture
  • Ear irrigation
  • Routine adult and childhood immunisations
  • Assisting GPs who perform minor surgery

To provide a comprehensive practice nursing service to the practice population in conjunction with GPs, senior nursing staff, or independently. These services will be provided according to relevant protocols and guidance. The post holder has continuing responsibility for the management of nursing activity including the assessment, planning, implemetation and evaluation of nursing care.
