Depending on experience  PERMANENT 

Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by Clinical leads, senior nursing staff and GPs. Such tasks include:

Basic wound care / ulcer care

Removal of sutures

Cytology

Urinalysis

Travel clinic

Processing of samples

ECGs

Hypertension management

Asthma/Peak flow readings/Spirometry

Venipuncture

Blood pressure monitoring

Ear Syringing

Routine immunisations including childhood immunisations

Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.

Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs

Long term condition management

Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to Clinical Leads, senior nurses or GPs as appropriate.




Other tasks will include:

Clean and sterilise equipment as appropriate.

Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by nurses and GPs

Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking, and rotating items as required

Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.

Participation in health campaigns, e.g. flu campaign.

Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms

Maintaining and ordering health promotion literature.

At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records

Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels

Participate in administrative systems in the Practice

A duty to advise clinical leads and the Business Manager of potential problems or errors within in range of assigned tasks

Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.

On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits

Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

We are looking to appoint an experienced Practice Nurse to join our expanding team. We are a friendly, stimulating and supportive Practice with a strong ethos of learning and development.

We have 11 Partners and 10 Associate GPs, 4 ANPs and a team of 8 Practice Nurses and 5 HCAs working out of our four sites at Windhill, Saltaire, Cottingley and Baildon. We have 24,000 patients and a diverse patient demographic.

We would like you to have experience in child and adult immunisations, dressings and wound care, cervical smear taking and chronic disease management. We would ideally like you to have qualifications in diabetes and asthma care.
