The post holder will act as system leader for specialised commissioning, working closely with the regional Director of Commissioning and the associate medical, nursing and finance directors for direct commissioning to ensure that services are high quality and are delivered efficiently, and enabling transformation.

The regional Director of Specialised Commissioning is a key member of the regional commissioning leadership function and will lead and be operationally accountable for the commissioning of retained specialised services for London. The postholder will manage the specialised services commissioning team as an integrated team also supporting ICBs in the commissioning of delegated services.

The post holder will act as system leader for specialised commissioning, working closely with the regional Director of Commissioning and the associate medical, nursing and finance directors for direct commissioning to ensure that services are high quality and are delivered efficiently, and enabling transformation. They will provide clear accountability for specialised commissioning and delivery across the region.

The post holder will manage the relationship with the providers of retained specialised services, within the region and manage the commissioning, contracting and quality assurance of those services, working through dedicated specialised commissioning teams.

They will support the Regional Director in working with and through ICSs in the region to improve quality and performance and secure the delivery of high quality, effective, efficient and integrated specialised services.

To play a key role in the senior management team for direct commissioning within the region and work closely with the Regional Director of Commissioning to exploit synergies across the range of direct commissioning functions.
