The post is shared between two therapy disciplines (Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy) and includes assisting the therapists in assessing and treating stroke and neurological patients predominantly on the acute stroke unit or acute wards.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join our Stroke and Neuro Therapy Team at Good Hope Hospital.

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated person with excellent communication skills. The post is shared between two therapy disciplines (Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy) in order to improve on our multidisciplinary teamwork and provide excellent stroke rehabilitation.

The therapy team are predominantly based in a brand new 24-bedded acute stroke unit. We provide rehabilitation and care for our patients, use assessment skills to identify and provide excellent post stroke intervention. We also provide care for acute neurological outliers on the wards at Good Hope Hospital. The multidisciplinary stroke team at Good Hope Hospital is strong and supportive and held in high regard in the hospital. We hope you would like to join an established and effective therapy team working with stroke and neurological patients in an acute hospital setting.

The post is shared between two therapy disciplines (Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy) and includes assisting the therapists in assessing and treating stroke and neurological patients predominantly on the acute stroke unit or acute wards. The post also includes therapy documentation, reporting, data inputting to support the service, plus ordering equipment and site visits to facilitate discharge of patients.

It is essential the post holder has excellent communication and IT skills, have an interest in stroke and neurological conditions, a willingness to learn and develop their therapeutic skills. We are committed to continued professional and career development of all staff. The Trust is committed to providing a 7-day therapy service and therefore this role is on a 7-day working rota.
