Health Services Laboratories is seeking a Specimen Reception Area (SRA) Supervisor for their department at Watford Hospital. This role involves overseeing the team responsible for the accurate handling and processing of patient specimens, including entering requests into the pathology computer systems (WinPath and Helix) and managing clerical tasks as per established sample handling procedures. The SRA Supervisor will ensure team competency through training, manage departmental schedules to maintain staffing levels for a 24/7 operation, and provide feedback to the Head of Department. The supervisor will also assist with ordering consumables, maintaining documentation standards, and supporting the team through various personnel issues.

The successful candidate is expected to maintain their own technical skills, update training records, and stay informed on standard operating procedures. They will also deputize for the Specimen Reception manager when necessary and participate in the continuous improvement of departmental processes. This position may require participation in core and late shifts, including weekends, to ensure efficient laboratory operations starting from the programme launch on March 1, 2025.
