The Specialist Engineering Manager at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust will lead and manage the Trust's specialist engineering services, ensuring compliance with safety standards and legal regulations across various systems, including medical gases, lifts, and water systems. This role involves deputy responsibilities for the Head of Estates, overseeing a multidisciplinary team, managing contracts, audits, performance appraisals, and departmental budgets of approximately £2.5 million. The post holder will engage in strategic planning, training, and development while ensuring effective communication with various stakeholders, including senior management, external agencies, and legislative bodies.

Additionally, the role includes participating in out-of-hours on-call arrangements, conducting complex audits, and analyzing engineering reports. The Specialist Engineering Manager is tasked with fostering a culture of responsiveness and safety, managing risk assessments, and leading on compliance with regulations. They will champion the development of operational plans, training initiatives, and the Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system, while addressing challenging conditions and contributing to the overall governance of the Trust’s estates management.
