The Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC) is looking to appoint a Radiotherapy Service Manager and Professional Lead Therapeutic Radiographer based in Newcastle.
We are looking for a well-motivated, experienced person to lead the delivery of radiotherapy services within our Cancer Centres in Newcastle and Carlisle (Northern Centre for Cancer Care North Cumbria).
This management position within NCCC/NCCCNC involves the full range of management accountabilities including day-to-day operational management of the radiotherapy department in both Newcastle and North Cumbria.
This post is responsible for teams across both departments incorporating approximately 100 members of staff, predominantly radiographers.
We have 9 Varian TrueBeams, 2 Tomotherapy units, 3 CT Scanners, 1 SXT unit and 1 HDR brachytherapy unit across our two sites, delivering treatment to approximately 6000 new patients per year employing a wide range of therapies including multi-met SRS, lungs SABR, HDR gynae brachytherapy, TBI/TSEI, gated lung therapy and cardiac SABR.
This is an exciting role for a motivated individual keen to drive improvement and join a very supportive and collaborative team.
The post holder takes day-to-day responsibility for delivery of the radiotherapy department's key performance indicators as laid out in the NHS England's service specification. This includes achieving the national cancer waiting time targets including the 62 and 31-day waits.
NCCC provides a highly specialized regional radiotherapy service to a population of circa 3.3million across the North East and North Cumbria with radiotherapy service provision for circa 2.0million.
This senior management position within NCCC/NCCC-NC involves the full range of management accountabilities for the delivery of radiotherapy services, including day-to-day operational management of the departments in both Newcastle and North Cumbria. A key objective for the post holder is to ensure equity of service delivery across the geographically spread treatment locations. This requires the post holder to ensure effective agreement exists between the departments in delivery of both strategic and operational objectives in order to deliver integrated care pathways.
The role provides radiotherapy professional leadership to the Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network (ODN) responsible for providing radiotherapy system leadership and the delivery of NHS England's vision and ambitions for the modernisation of radiotherapy services
The annual budgetary management responsibilities for this role include £4.6million for staff resources, and operational management and leadership of in excess of 100 staff members As part of the senior management team of the Cancer and Haematology Clinical Board, the post holder will work collaboratively to propose and implement changes to radiotherapy service delivery across the two radiotherapy units.

To take a lead on the strategic and operational management of radiotherapy delivery within the Clinical Board and providing expert advice in relation to radiotherapy delivery issues To advise the Trust and external bodies on radiotherapy delivery issues. This role will work closely in conjunction with Radiotherapy Physics and Medical Staff for delivery of radiotherapy service To provide line management support to the Operational Delivery Network Manager working towards achieving the objectives of the Radiotherapy Service Specification. To provide strategic leadership to the Northern Radiotherapy Network as a core member of the Network Oversight Group, covering area of responsibility
