Band 3: £24,071 to £25,674 a year pa  PERMANENT 
To work within the haematology homecare service alongside the Band 7 haematology homecareCNS, Band 6 Haematology CNS and haematology consultants/haematology nurse practitioners/CNS Lead.

  • To assist in providing nursing care as delegated by the registered nurse within the patient's own home.

  • Following completion of competence, undertake venepuncture when needed to collect samples for this patient cohort

  • To have the ability to work unsupervised, planning and organising tasks and home visits as delegated by the Band 7/6

  • Demonstrate and promote good communication that supports the dignity, care and safety of the patients.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the haematology homecare service within Bournemouth hospital, to provide a specialist nursing service within the community setting across Dorset for patients requiring haematological specific care and management of on going treatment, for those that cannot attend the hospital setting.

This post will work alongside the Band 7 and Band 6 caring for patients with conditions such as AML, CLL and MPN. They will help in the development of the service alongside the Band 7 and 6 and work closely with haematology consultants and other haematology practitioners within the department.

This is a part time position and ideally need someone who can work the hours over 5 days Monday to Friday. Applicants will be expected to have a valid UK driving licence and the use of a car.


Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

  • To work within the haematology homecare service alongside the Band 7 haematology homecareCNS, Band 6 Haematology CNS and haematology consultants/haematology nurse practitioners/CNS Lead

  • To help provide a specialist nursing service within the community setting for patients requiring haematology specific care and management of on-going treatment, for those who cannot attend the hospital setting, including conditions such as AML, CLL and MPN. They will be expected to see patients within their own homes either to take blood, samples, or a routine follow up visit and feed back to the registered professionals within the team.

  • The post holder will contribute to the continued development of this specialist service and will review patients within the community setting under the direction of the registered nurses within the team

  • To assist in providing nursing care as delegated by the registered nurse within the patient's own home.
