The Christie Macmillan Secondary Breast Cancer Nursing Team is seeking an experienced and passionate Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist for the role of Breast Palliative Care Specialist Nurse in Manchester. The position involves providing specialist nursing support for patients diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in various peripheral hospital clinics across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, promoting optimal quality of life, coordinating care plans, and delivering both physical and psychological support. The successful candidate will also play a vital role in service development, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior staff, all while maintaining professional standards and enhancing the patient experience throughout their cancer care journey.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of post-registration experience in breast oncology, ideally supplemented by palliative care knowledge. Advanced communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The role involves running nurse-led and telephone clinics, addressing patient concerns, and participating in service evaluations to drive improvements in care delivery. Additionally, the Nurse Specialist will be expected to contribute to research initiatives, educational programs, and policy implementation to ensure evidence-based practices are upheld within the team.
