In this key position, you'll manage and organise surgical operations, ensuring exceptional standards of nursing care are delivered. You'll communicate effectively with a diverse multidisciplinary team and take on additional responsibilities that support the efficient running of our operating theatre. With a clear focus on patient safety and adherence to Trust policies, you’ll champion evidence-based practices, share your knowledge with colleagues, and actively contribute to clinical governance. We are looking for somebody who can multitask and work in a highly pressured environment and remain calm in all situations, with good communication skills.
The trauma and orthopaedic theatres cover both elective and emergency surgery.
You will be required to work 3 x 12.5-hour shifts.
Responsible for the assessment of care needs, planning, delivering, and evaluating a high standard of nursing care.
Contributing to the safe and efficient running of the operating theatre department, through the acceptance of agreed additional responsibilities.
An accomplished communicator able to contribute, implement and evaluate clinical and professional standards.
Initiating and developing evidence-based practice ensuring all staff are aware of current issues and changes.
Ensuring the administration and documentation of drugs is in accordance with Trust policy.

Be responsible for the management and organisation of the operative list and clinical care.
Be responsible for the efficient communication of changes within the operating department to all members of the multidisciplinary theatre team.
Undertake the safe and efficient transfer of patients to other hospitals.
Ensure that Trust policies and guidelines for correct clinical practices are followed.
Be aware of Risk Management and Clinical Governance and the implications this has on clinical practice.
Ensure the theatre staff and multidisciplinary team are aware of policies and procedures relating to Fire, Health & Safety, COSHH and Infection control.
Report to Team Leader and or Theatre Manager any accidents, untoward incidents and complaints as soon as possible to include completion of the relevant documentation and dispatched to the appropriate department.
