Sister/ Charge Nurse Paediatric Inpatient Ward inDerby inDerby PUBLISHED 25 NOV 2024

Band 6: £37,338 to £44,962 a year Pro rata pa  PERMANENT 

You will assist the Senior Sister in ensuring care delivery and management of the ward is implemented within agreed frameworks in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures, values and behaviours.

You will provide nursing leadership and are accountable for patient, public and staff experience whilst on shift. You will lead, offer clinical advice and support management of services to ensure the delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate nursing care.

The role involves working as part of a nursing and medical team to provide inpatient care to babies and children within Dolphin ward at Royal Derby Hospital.

You will plan, implement and evaluate holistic, individualised patient care in a safe and caring environment in the most efficient and clinically effective way whilst acting asthe patient's advocate and maintaining privacy and dignity.

Applicants must hold RSCN or RN child branch qualification.

You should have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to utilise these effectively. You should be professional and a role model, leading by example and always displaying exemplary standards of behaviour in line with the NMC code of conduct.

The post holder will work under the direction of the ward manager with responsibility for:

  • The assessment of care needs for all patients, ensuring appropriately planned care is both implemented and evaluated.
  • Expected to work with minimal supervision and will be designated to take charge of the ward in the absence of the manager.
  • Will act as an effective clinical leader and will ensure the clinical and professional development of all staff for whom they are responsible.
  • As a band 6 sister/charge nurse you will be required to utilise your organisational skills to assess patient requirements, prioritise workload, allocate skill mix and support all members of the nursing team. Working with the multi disciplinary team you will ensure patients receive the care they need in an appropriate time scale.
