The role of Band 6 Occupational Therapist in the Assertive Outreach Team (AOT) at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust involves engaging and supporting service users with psychosis and complex needs. The position requires the therapist to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to facilitate participation in meaningful community activities and promote independence in service users' lives.

Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments (e.g., MOHOST and Dialog +) to identify barriers to occupation and establish goals aligned with service users' interests.
- Providing therapeutic interventions focused on developing routines, motivation, and self-management skills.
- Collaborating with the clinical lead OT to enhance the occupational therapy pathway and participating in regular OT team meetings.
- Supervising and mentoring Band 5 OTs and therapy support staff.
- Managing a small caseload of up to eight service users while ensuring effective time management and care coordination.
- Assessing housing and support needs and producing related reports.

The role operates on shifts across 7 days a week, including day and late shifts, and requires traveling throughout the Birmingham and Solihull area. The position emphasises a whole team approach to care and encourages the development of leadership skills.
