The role of Assistant Craftsperson at Summerhill Services Limited in Birmingham involves performing planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and repair works, along with minor improvements within the secure center and other associated properties. The position requires a multi-skilled approach, including tasks such as water hygiene maintenance, PAT testing, fire extinguisher inspections, and emergency light testing. Additionally, the Assistant Craftsperson will serve as an on-site liaison for the estates team, escort suppliers and contractors, and participate in an emergency out-of-hours on-call rota.

Candidates must have a commitment to diversity and will undergo background checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and occupational health assessment, prior to employment. Effective communication with internal teams and outside contractors is essential, and the role also emphasises the importance of understanding professional responsibilities and collaboration with the clinical team.
