Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join their acute mental health service, specifically within a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU). This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance clinical skills, engage in leadership, and contribute to service development while providing intensive care for service users. Key responsibilities include facilitating psychological assessments and therapies, offering guidance to multidisciplinary team (MDT) members, and supervising less experienced professionals. The position also involves coordinating the psychological care provided by the team and leading evidence-based psychological services across various acute settings.

The Principal Clinical Psychologist will play a pivotal role in promoting compassionate care, focusing on human rights, and contributing to NHS England’s Culture of Care initiatives aimed at ensuring safe and effective treatment. Additionally, candidates will be involved in research activities linked with Sheffield University and will work closely with the consultant psychologist to foster the professional development of the team. The Trust supports secondments for internal candidates and emphasises the importance of regular clinical supervision aligned with professional standards.
